Net Forge
Net Forge is the open-source multiplayer browser game engine built for AI coding agents.
It is MIT licensed, published on npm under @netforge, with source at github.com/netnetdev/net-forge. The documentation is at /docs.
What it is
- One game simulation that runs the same in the browser and on the server, with Rapier physics and a fixed tick.
- A three.js renderer on WebGPU, with a WebGL2 fallback.
- Ten complete multiplayer game templates: survivor-like co-op, arena shooter, tower defense, dungeon crawler, idle, platformer, card battler, monster collector, kart racer and party game.
- A typed, declarative game API that coding agents can read, write and test.
- An asset library of 530 CC0 models and sounds in six art styles.
Start a game
Create a project from a template and play it on your own computer with play money:
npm create netforge@latest my-game -- --template survivor --yes cd my-game npm run play
Open the same link in a second tab and you are two players in one room. The quickstart covers the other nine templates and what to edit first.
Use it with a coding agent
Add the Net Forge MCP server to Claude Code:
claude mcp add netforge -- npx -y @netforge/mcp
Or write the agent instructions and MCP configs into a game folder:
npx netforge setup agent
The agents guide has the lines for Cursor, VS Code, Codex and Gemini CLI.
